Audi is expanding its range of fuel-efficient Ultra models in the A3 lineupwith a new 150PS (148hp) 1.4 TFSI turbocharged petrol engine. Available in combination with either a manual transmission or a 7-speed S tronic, the engine can be combined with all four body versions of the A3 car line (three-door model, five-door Sportback, Sedan and Cabriolet).
The four-cylinder engine features cylinder on demand technology, which helps it return 4.7 l/100 km (50 mpg US) over the combined cycle in the three-door A3, equating to CO2 emissions of 109 g/km. That doesn’t mean it makes the A3 a slow car: the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint takes 8.1 seconds, while top speed is 220 km/h (137 mph).
Besides the petrol engine, Audi announced that an Ultra version with the 110PS (109hp) 1.6-liter TDI engine will be available for the A3 Sedan as well, after launching in the A3 three-door and A3 Sportback last year. The A3 Sedan Ultra averages 3.3 l/100 km (71.3 mpg US) and emits 88 g of CO2 per kilometer.
Audi has already launched 12 Ultra models with TDI and TFSI engines in the A4, A5, A6 and A7 lineups and now has a total of 22 Ultra models in its range.
