The Mitsubishi Mirage (known as the Space Star in Europe) is a car that doesn’t do much justice to the Japanese brand’s tradition of performance models and competent off-roaders, but since it is on the market, the folks from Consumer Reports felt compelled to test it.

It has been a very long time since we last saw such a devastating review from CR: the Mirage is described by Tom Mutchler as the worst handling car the publication has driven in years and one that should have been on sale in the late 1980s rather than today.

He says the body leans and rolls even at slow speeds and that getting the Mirage up to highway speeds is a real challenge because of the feeble 74hp 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine.

The interior is slammed for looking drab, cheap and insubstantial. Believe it or not, Consumer Reports also found some qualities in the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage, but you’ll have to watch the video to see what those are.
