One would quickly run out of epithets if that was the chosen course for describing this Mercedes 220 SE two-door, built in 1965. It has 11,000 miles or about 17,600 km on the odometer and from every angle you look at it (in the photos provided and posted below), it’s hard to fault.
That’s partly to the credit of Mercedes for building a solid and timeless-looking car, but the effort of its owners of having kept it looking this good is not to be sneezed at.
If the looks alone don’t do enough for you, then perhaps the smooth fuel-injected straight-six will. The 2.2-liter unit was the smallest engine in the range, but when it powered the Coupe model, power was upped from the saloon’s output of 93 hp to a more respectable 118 hp.
More powerful variants were available, though, and the 280 SE Coupe, with the 3.5-liter engine nudged 200 hp.
Back to the car at hand, its owner, who’s had it since 1989, says the blue paint is all original, as is the wood dashboard, though the latter is one of the things that needs replacing. What’s nice about the interior is that it features (rare) original bucket seats.
The car is currently located in Castle Pines, Colorado, and the asking price on Craigslist is $25,900.
