In 2013, McLaren Automotive broke even, posting both operating and pre-tax profits for the first time (£12.4 million and £4.5 million, respectively), during only its third year of car production. The company delivered 1,359 12Cs and 36 examples of the McLaren P1 last year, with revenues reaching £285.4 million.

But McLaren Automotive’s ambitions don’t stop here. The company confirmed that an all-new sports car, codenamed P13, will be available before the end of 2015 and will take its range into a lower price-point.

“P13 will be a comfortable, usable, and beautiful mid-engined two seater sportscar, built around a carbon fibre chassis. It will be available in more than one derivative and once fully on sale, McLaren Automotive’s total annual production will increase to around 4,000 units per year,” the company said in a press release.

McLaren also confirmed that it will build a limited run of track-only editions of the P1 hypercar. These will be the most powerful and rarest McLarens yet and will available only to clients who have ordered one of the 375 street legal versions.

Speaking of new models, McLaren says it has received over 1,000 orders for its newest car, the 650S, launched in 2014 as a Coupé and Spider replacing the 12C.

With the addition of the P13 next year, the company expects to access new markets and customers, grow sales volumes and increase both revenue and profitability. McLaren’s investment on R&D and the development of new models increased by £2.5 million to £70.6 million in 2013.

For 2014, McLaren Automotive expects a similar global sales volume as last year, but bigger turnover and profit driven by sales of the McLaren P1. So far, more than 100 P1s have been delivered to customers.
