Even though the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang is only the first generation to be officially sold in Europe, older Mustangs are not uncommon on European roads. However, it is a very special day when more than 750 Mustangs gather in one place in Europe.
The biggest ever gathering of Ford Mustangs in Europe thrilled fans and owners from across Europe who met on June 7-8 in Cologne, Germany, to celebrate 50 years of the iconic car and to witness the first unveiling of the new Ford Mustang in Germany.
The gathering took place at the European Mustang Convention near Ford of Europe’s headquarters in Cologne and included Mustang owners from Germany, UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, France, Italy, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic.
“The number of vehicles and size of the crowds at the European Mustang Convention reflect both the passion for Mustang that exists in Europe and heritage of this global motoring and cultural icon,” said Joerg Beyer, executive engineering director, Ford of Europe “Ford is honored that the Mustang community has chosen to celebrate the car’s 50th anniversary just a stone’s throw from our European headquarters,” he added.
The event also included Concours d’Elegance judging, technical workshops, and the opportunity to win a vintage Mustang by participating in a raffle.
The new Mustang goes on sale in Europe in 2015 as a Fastback and Convertible, with two available engines: a new turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost producing more than 309PS (305hp) and 407 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque and a 5.0-liter V8 with more than 426PS (420hp) and 529 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque.
