Nissan has begun production of the revised Juke crossover at its Sunderland plant in the UK, following a £20 million ($34 million) investment. The launch of the facelifted Juke completes the total refresh of the plant’s product line-up in just over a year, following the start of production of the Leaf EV, new Note and new Qashqai, representing over £800 million ($1.36 billion) investment.

The start of production of the refreshed Juke also coincides with the addition of 50 new posts available for experienced technicians to support a third year of 500,000 output at the plant.

The facelifted Nissan Juke features a new design at the front and rear, a new downsized DIG-T 115 turbocharged petrol engine, a revised DIG-T 190 petrol engine, advanced equipment including a new audio system, the latest generation NissanConnect driver-vehicle interface, Nissan Safety Shield, Nissan’s Dynamic Control system, plus a new open-air panoramic glass roof.

Two-wheel drive versions have 40 percent more space in the luggage area, and the new personalization program “Nissan Design Studio” offers a range of new colors, interior and exterior themes. The Nissan Juke is on sale in the UK from £13,420 ($22,845) and will arrive in all European markets in the coming weeks.

“The launch of the new Juke further strengthens Nissan’s command of the crossover market. With a new Qashqai and now a new Juke in production at Sunderland, the crossover has become part of this plant’s DNA,” said Nissan’s Vice President for Manufacturing in the UK, Kevin Fitzpatrick. Nissan has produced more than 540,000 Juke crossovers in the UK since 2010.
