To mark the 30th anniversary of its first GTi model, the iconic 205 GTi, Peugeot will release a special edition model for its current hot-hatch, the 208 GTi. Called the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary, the model will be showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 27-29) in the Supercar & ‘First Glimpse’ class.
The 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Limited Edition will make its world debut in the UK on display with dynamic demonstrations. The car will be available for viewing in the Moving Motor Show showroom and on the Hillclimb on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Peugeot didn’t release any details about the special edition model, but it may feature a power increase, as the French carmaker says the debut of the 208 GTi 30th Anniversary is similar to the reveal of the RCZ R the previous year at Goodwood. The standard 208 GTi is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 200PS (197 hp). All we can see from the teaser photo is that the new model features the Union Jack below the grille.
Alongside the 208 GTi 30th Anniversary, Peugeot will also showcase the 2008 DKR Dakar challenger, the Exalt concept car, 308 R study, RCZ R, 208 Hybrid FE experimental prototype, 308 Hatchback and 208 GTi Prestige. Additionally, the 2013 208 T16 Pikes Peak and the 1988 405 T16 GR Pikes Peak will climb the Goodwood course.
