Qoros hasn’t been around long, but it’s already looking at what cars it will be making at the turn of the decade. It enlisted the help of a 29 year-old Korean automotive design student, Jihoon Seo, who, as part of an internship for the company, has created the 9 Sedan Concept, a vision of what the company could be making in the year 2020.
Strong emphasis is being placed on the internship program, as the new brand’s Executive Design Director, Gert Volker Hidebrand, said:
“Finding the very best talent will be a crucial success factor for our company in the future… Our internship programme also allows us to give something back, offering the same opportunity today that many of us in the Qoros design team benefited from when we were students or working in our earliest days in automotive design.”
The resulting concept has a very imposing face with a bit of a strange grille design that blends into the LED headlights. It does, perhaps, look a bit too tall (the upper edge protrudes upward like on an American muscle car), but when viewed from the side, it blends into the design better, giving a bit of a Rolls Royce-esque impression.
Obviously, this is just a design exercise and probably won’t result in a production car; we do appreciate Qoros investing in design, though, which is something often overlooked by fledgling manufacturers, even ones with high aspirations.
