You may have noticed that Renault has been trying over the last few years to get more people into its electric cars, at the same time cutting the emissions and boosting the economy of its regular offerings too, in order to keep up with market demands and try making a difference that way.
The first part of the plan has so far failed, and people still show reticence when asked to part with (a bit too much of) their money for an EV. However, they have managed to make other parts of their business greener and are now reporting a noteworthy drop in the company’s entire carbon footprint – they say it’s gone down by 10 percent between 2010 and 2013.
Renault made an official commitment in this direction, back in 2010, and now it boasts “the lowest CO2 emissions in use,” with an average for its entire range of 115 g/km.
It’s an ongoing effort that should be supported and embraced by the other manufacturers as well. The way Renault did it is explained in the video posted below.
