While it may look a lot more flamboyant than the VW Polo GTI on which it’s based, the SEAT Ibiza Cupra is somehow out of place in the sector. You rarely see one on the road, and the fact that it’s been on sale for as long as its rivals have been yet nobody mentions it should be telling.
It clearly lacks something, and the Carbuyer review posted below goes some ways towards explaining what, even if it’s done unwillingly.
Reviewer Rebecca Jackson approaches the car from a regular driver’s point of view, not that of an enthusiast, and in that respect, the Ibiza is actually hard to fault – it’s quite competent at being a compact, daring-looking city-oriented hatchback. What it isn’t so good at is engaging the driver, despite featuring a firmer setup than both of the other hot offshoots riding on the same chassis.
There are probably other niggles too, but we ask you then: why is it that the SEAT Ibiza Cupra is not appealing, and people would really have just about anything else? Is it the lack of pedigree/tradition, or something else?
