In roughly a year’s time from now, Volkswagen will release a new iteration of its Transporter series of commercial and passenger vans, which includes a variety of body styles ranging from the regular and Highroof Panel Vans, to the Crew Cab Pick-up, and the 6- to 9-passenger editions Shuttle, Kombi, Caravelle, and Multivan.
The two prototypes caught by our spies are test mules, the front ends of which were covered up, while in one of the vans, we clearly see the newly designed and more upscale-looking, dashboard
The question remains whether VW will present an all-new Transporter under the T6 codename or if it will heavily revise the current T5 that has been in production since 2003. Whatever the case, the exterior styling is expected to draw inspiration from last year’s e-Co-Motion concept study.
Under the hood, the new Transporter will get VW’s latest line of diesel and petrol engines, possibly including the brand’s upcoming 237hp (240PS) 2.0-liter TDI that was announced for the next Passat.
