You may remember we posted some photos and the brief backstory of a red Renault Estafette van that was for sale after having been used on the set of the movie Rush. It was an exact recreation of a Formula 1 support van from the 1970s and it was valued at the equivalent of around $30,000.
However, that’s a bit steep partly because you’d seen it in a movie and partly because it was a careful recreation of an actual vehicle – you can get a bad Estafette which you can yourself turn around, and you’ll probably end up spending a lot less… money, not time, obviously.
This seriously neglected example is located in Boulder, Colorado and while it may look like crap and have a non-running engine, the seller says it has most of the missing bits inside and is definitely salvageable. Granted, he doesn’t help his own case of trying to sell it, having taken the photos for the eBay ad with what can only be described as a (very old) crumpled beer can and not a camera…
As long as all the bits are inside, and it doesn’t have any nasty bolt-ons, this 1959 example would really be a unique appearance on US roads. It was never officially imported into the US, so it could be one of those very odd automotive conversation starters.
The current owner wants $3,750 for it, though he does seem to be accepting offers.
