We’re guessing something went wrong with Hyundai’s testing of the updated i30 compact hatch that was spied here in Germany while it was being towed by an i40 Estate, which is also due for a facelift next year.
Placing aside the Korean tester’s unfortunate moment and looking at the lightly camouflaged prototype, we see that the front end of the car will get a new look adopting some of the styling cues found on the latest Genesis saloon, such as the more upright and angular grille with the horizontal bars.
The rest of the car appears to be unchanged, but Hyundai may be holding back in regards to the rear end of the i30, which could get tweaked tail lamp graphics and minor revisions to the bumper by the team we see it in production guise.
In addition, our spies have caught other prototypes with covered dashboards, so we some interior updates, such as a revised center console with a different infotainment system, may be in order.
If we don’t see the refreshed i30 in Paris this fall, then it should make its debut next year in Geneva.
