For quite some time now, when shopping for a new vehicle, American military families usually go to a Ford dealership and buy a truck, an SUV or a passenger car wearing the blue oval.

At least this is what comes out of a study conducted by Polk on vehicle registration analyzed in an IHS Automotive military sample of no less than 19.3 million households of active, retired or veteran military personnel.

Ford has three models in the top ten cars bought by military families, with the F-150 topping the overall list. Best-selling SUV in the list is the Ford Escape, which is also the third best-selling vehicle overall, while the Fusion sedan rounds out the results in ninth place.

“Military families, in particular, desire the efficiency, capability and smart technology Ford vehicles offer,” said Jim Farley, Ford executive vice president, Global Marketing, Sales, Service and Lincoln. “Ford has a long history of supporting active-duty military personnel and veterans, and it is an honor American military families buy Ford more than any other brand.”

You should probably also keep in mind that the 19.3 million households interviewed account for no less than 920,000 new and used light vehicle registrations from last year alone, so the study doesn’t take into account earlier years, albeit we have a feeling that the results wouldn’t be so different. Why is there no love for Jeep?
