With 626 hp and 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque from a 6.0-liter W12 engine, the recently updated Bentley Continental GT Speed is the most powerful production car ever built by the British manufacturer.
It is no longer the fastest-accelerating car from Crewe though, as that honor now belongs to the stripped-out Continental GT3-R, which sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds.
However, it remains the fastest in terms of top speed, with Bentley saying the coupe can reach 206 mph (331 km/h). Auto Express’ Jack Rix wanted to see how close he could get to that figure so he took to car to an airfield and pushed the pedal to the metal. Unfortunately, the runway wasn’t long enough for the Bentley to hit its top speed, but the driver managed to hit 180 mph (290 km/h).
Of course, this piece of information will only be relevant for those who frequently take their Continental GT Speed to the Autobahn but still, there is something intriguing about a 2.3-ton (5,070-lbs) car going so fast. Scroll down to watch the video.
