Usually, when someone asks us to help them sell their lackluster daily driver, we shrug our shoulders, shake our heads, and move along, but not this time…even though the motives behind the creation of the used car ad may have more to do with the viral promotion of the creative agency than the automobile itself.

To explain, a one Dave sent us the following email message: “Hi guys.. Wonder if you can help me to sell my car. I’ve made this little video up. Feel free to share, tweet, blog it.”

On Youtube, Dave posted: “I’m trying to sell my awesome little car. It’s a 1999 Holden Barina. Its not in great condition, but its still a fun little car. Tweet me an offer using the hashtag #buymybarina. I’ve also set up a little site for it http://buymybarina.com You can read all about it on there. Thanks to my mates at Chimney Group for helping me out with it..”

The professional video and website to sell Dave’s Holden Barina (Australia’s old Opel Corsa) were made by the Chimney Group, which describes itself as a “world leading Creation Agency, involved in creation of TV commercials, TV Shows, Digital Moving Images, TV Films and Feature Films across the globe”.

Judging by this G+ posting that appeared on the YouTube comment wall as well, Dave is David Johns as in Digital Director of Chimney Australia.

A+ for the ad effort, F- for the shady email approach…
