Cadillac is preparing an onslaught of high-performance models bearing the “V” nametag for next year, including the CTS-V to rival the BMW M5 and Jaguar XFR-S, the ATS-V Coupe as the firm’s answer to the BMW M4 and Audi RS5, and the prototype pictured here, the ATS-V Sedan, to attack the BMW M3 and forthcoming Mercedes C63 AMG.
From the scoop shots, it looks like GM has beefed up the ATS-V Sedan’s body with wider wheel arches and toned bumpers, with the front piece gaining a lip spoiler and the rear, a diffuser with four pipes poking out from the back.
The cow-catcher grille makes another appearance on a “V” prototype model, while we also noticed the hood vents, rocker panels, big alloy wheels shod in low profile tires and larger brake calipers clutching huge discs.
Evidently, the ATS-V Coupe and Sedan will share their powertrain setup, which is thought to be a the CTS V Sport’s 3.6-liter twin-turbo’d V6 sending around 420 or more horses to the rear wheels, depending on whether Cadillac will tune the engine or not, via an 8-speed automatic, or possibly, an optional manual gearbox.
