A few years back, people would have looked at you long and funny had you proposed a comparison between the previous BMW M3 coupe and the Chevy Corvette C6 as being a fair fight.
You’d just know that the reviewers tasked with figuring out which is best would be pouring over the BMW and picking faults with the American car.
However, bring in the next-gen incarnation of either car, and drawing a conclusion becomes quite a bit harder.
The BMW remains the more precise and clinical of the two, but now the Vette is not far behind, either. It has a lot of the same or similar tech, a balanced chassis and more than enough poke and noise from its V8 to be fun, whereas the BMW has perhaps moved too much towards the digital side of the spectrum for some people’s taste.
The fight between the two is actually a fair one, as long as you don’t necessarily do any performance measurements and base your assessments solely on how the two feel to drive on the track. That’s the angle from which the two were reviewed and put up against one another in the Automobile video posted below.
