To its credit, Jaguar has managed to retain the essence of the Project 7 roadster concept when it turned it into the F-Type Project 7 limited-series production model.
Fresh from the car’s Goodwood debut, XCar talked to Jaguar design boss Ian Callum and with John Edwards, the head of JLR’s recently announced Special Vehicle Operations division, about the F-Type Project 7, which is SVO’s first project.
Inspired by three-time Le Mans winning Jaguar D-Type, the roadster maintains the concept’s styling, with the notable exception of adding a second seat. The F-Type Project 7 is the fastest and most powerful Jaguar ever built, with the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine being tweaked to produce 575PS (567hp) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque.
The all-aluminum bodied car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and reaches an electronically-limited top speed of 186mph (300km/h). Scroll down to find out more about it from the video.
