Would it be strange to you if you saw the Lexus badge on something even smaller than the already pretty compact NX crossover, a recently-launched model based on the same underpinnings and about the same size as a Toyota RAV-4?
UK magazine Autocar says it shouldn’t, and it quotes the company’s Euro VP, Alain Uyttenhoven, who reportedly confirmed such a model “made sense,” and that it was “not impossible.”
The source article goes on to say that this alleged smaller crossover would be part of a grander offensive on Lexus’ side, as it’s looking to “downsize and diversify” its range of available models in order to not be so dependent on the North American market.
They probably want to make it bigger in Europe, where the premium sector starts with superminis and city cars: Audi’s A1 and the new-new MINI are entry level models; this new Lexus crossover would have to be the same size as a MINI Countryman, and probably a direct rival to it.
