Despite the fact that it uses the E-Class moniker for part of its name, along with a number of E-Class options and engines, the current generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe (C207) is actually based on the old C-Class (W204) platform, a detail which didn’t go so well with some of its customers.
The fact that it’s only marginally longer and has an identical wheelbase with the C-Class Coupe (C204) is also probably one of the main reasons for the lack of an AMG variant for the model, with its most powerful version being the E 500 Coupe (E550 in the US).
The owner of a pre-facelift variant of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe in E 350 guise decided he will take it no more with the amount of shame he received at stop lights, so he went in anger to the peeps from Mcchip-dkr.
Known mainly for their chip tuning prowess, modifying the ECUs of just about any vehicle out there – including farming equipment – the Germans from Mccchip-dkr went for a full-on engine swap for the car.
Out with the naturally-aspirated, 3.5-liter V6 and in with the twin-turbocharged, 5.5-liter AMG V8 that has been augmented via the Stage 3 Mcchip-dkr upgrade, the new and improved car now packs a staggering 680 hp and a tire-torturing 1000 Nm (664 lb ft) of torque.
Naturally, in order for the massive amount of power to reach the pavement a bit more efficiently, Mcchip-dkr also added a motorsport-derived Drexler limited slip differential at the rear, along with a set of adjustable KW shocks and sportier springs.
For the moment, the car is still part of an on-going process of transformation, but once all the work is done it should be one of the most spectacular wolves in sheep’s clothing on the streets of Germany.
