The Toyota Yaris Hybrid (in Euro flavor) is quite a unique proposition for the European supermini motorist.
It features a 1.5-liter petrol engine and an electric motor under the bonnet, and it can even provide silent all-electric progress for short bursts, particularly in town where it’s most at home – an eco-diesel will monster it on the highway, though.
UK magazine Which Car? had a chance to get behind the wheel, and if you didn’t see the new front fascia treatment, that, like the smaller Aygo used “X” as a styling motif, and weren’t told outright it was the revamped model, you could have been forgiven for thinking this was the pre-facelift car…
So, as before, the conclusions are the same and fairly simple: buy it if you don’t mind the constant drone caused by the variable transmission, you do a lot of driving in town and very little to none on the highway. It’s also not particularly sporty or particularly dynamically impressive like, say, any Ford Fiesta.
