We already know that Skoda shot callers are seriously pondering the creation of their own version of the VW CrossBlue concept. The seven-seater SUV would put the Czech brand on completely new ground, quite distant from where their current high-riding model, the hatchback-based Yeti stands size-wise.
However, a report coming from Autocar magazine and citing inside sources now suggest that the brand is actually looking to also have some in-between models, like one that would be about the same size and price as a Hyundai SantaFe.
This supposed midway model would go on sale in 2016 and be based on the MQB platform. It would by no means be a revolutionary model, using only tried tech and engines; it’s suggested that the model would also be pretty good off-road too, in four-wheel drive trim, of course, a variant not that many buyers will go for in Europe.
This is not all the high-riding news from Skoda, though. The same report hints at a BMW X4 and Range Rover Evoque rival also being in the works, while denying any chance of a Nissan Juke rival.
The first model to come out, though, is the all-new Fabia, which makes its debut this October in hatchback and estate forms, before going on sale in early 2015; it will then be followed by an all-new Superb that will hopefully be a production-spec Vision C concept.
