There’s good reason to like Spintires’ unique blend of rutted forest track driving and log carrying simulation: it looks really great, it doesn’t take a monster of a computer to run, it’s fairly simple to get a hold of and, if you’re even the slightest bit into real off-roading, it will definitely hit a sensitive chord.

We’re not just making this up, though, as the game recently crossed the 100,000 (digital) copies downloaded from Steam. This is truly a feat for a small, not aggressively promoted game, that’s only been on sale for around twenty days…

The only thing that could detract from the experience for some users is the fairly limited scope of things to do in-game. The mud part is fine, but the log carrying could be swapped out for more interesting things to do/carry.

Developer Oovee Game Studios has announced that it will continue to incrementally improve the game over time and add free updates and paid DLCs into the mix.

The game already supports mods (see third video posted below – excuse the Russian), though, and if an active community forms behind it, the possibilities then expand even further for what the game could eventually become.
