BMW Group engineers are out and about these days taking advantage of the warm weather in Europe to test their upcoming vehicles.
Carscoops reader Diogo Machado from Portugal stumbled upon two testers the other day, the new MINI Convertible and a prototype for a brand new BMW.
“I’m a frequent reader and I was walking in Lisbon (Portugal) when I was surprised with the new Mini Convertible with almost no camo with the new BMW X1 behind,” said our contributor. “The BMW looks much longer then the previous generation, probably as large as the current X3. Here’s the picture, it’s not amazing…”
While there’s no questioning the MINI, we’re not entirely sure if the BMW is the next X1 SUV. We’re ruling out the possibility of the seven-seater 2-Series Active Tourer because of the lack of the extended triangular window ahead of the front door, but the rounded rear end makes us think that it could be the rumored BMW FAST (for Family Active Sports Tourer), which would sit somewhere between the 2-Series AT and the X1.
What are your thoughts?
Kudos to Diogo for the scoop shot!
