Comparing two vehicles that have half a century age difference between them, sounds like a curious exercise. However, as the Generation Gap internet video series proves, it’s a lot of fun.
On this episode, the two hosts chose to compare two pickup trucks from two completely different eras: a 1933 Ford Pickup and a 1979 Dodge Lil’ Red Express.
Powered by a 75 hp Flathead V8 (the world’s first mass-produced V8 unit), the ancestor of today’s highly successful F-Series had a strict utilitarian purpose.
In the other corner of the ring, powered by a big 225hp Mopar V8, the 1979 Dodge Lil’ Red Express featured extreme styling and was built in a very limited production. It was faster than a Corvette or a Camaro at the time, so it’s a pretty special truck.
Obviously, the two vehicles are worlds apart, as you can find out from the following video. But the film is a good way to find out how cars were in the 1930s and the late 1970s.
