I always found the 928’s fastback treatment an integral part of the coupe’s design and allure, which is perhaps why Porsche never went ahead with a convertible version – it would just look odd.
Nevertheless, several aftermarket firms took it upon themselves to convert the 928 into a drop top, most famously Carelli from Orange County, which had created a dozen 928 Convertibles as part of a feasibility study with Porsche North America in the beginning of the 1980s.
We don’t know which company was responsible for the creation of this 1989 Porsche 928 S4 Convertible, but after having covered a mere 19,000 miles, the car has been listed for sale on Platinum Brokers with an asking price of $16,500, which isn’t half bad if you don’t mind the absence of the roof.
