In a move that will leave rally fans with a smirk on their face, GM has resurrected the “Rally” nameplate for the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado.
As with other proposals of the sort with or without the “e” in their name, most recently including the Dodge Dart Rallye, these editions don’t earn their rally stripes, as it’s all about cosmetics and instilling the notion of sportiness.
GM offers two versions of the package, beginning with the Rally 1 for the lower-end 2015 Silverado LS that has a body-colored grille with black bowtie, black door handles and mirror caps, plus two black rally stripes.
The Rally 2 edition is available on the 2015 Silverado LT and it gets the same treatment as the “1” plus 22-inch black alloy wheels and black tubular side steps. It also benefits from a few bonus equipment features, such as a trailering package with a hitch and automatic locking rear differential, 10-way power driver seat, dual-zone climate control, remote start, backup camera rear defroster, and Chevy MyLink with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.
Both models can be had in 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain configurations, double or crew-cab bodies and with either a standard 285hp 4.3-liter V6 or the optional 355hp 5.3-liter V8.
