Besides making cars, motorcycles and engines for all conceivable types of vehicles and tools, Honda also owns one of the most advanced robotics program, spearheaded by the ASIMO humanoid robot.
The latest version of the ASIMO is the product of three decades of development and can do things its predecessors couldn’t.
For instance, it can run faster (up to 9 km/h), climb stairs more smoothly, hop, jump, balance on one foot and transition seamlessly between walking and running, among other new capabilities.
Auto Express’ Mat Watson wanted to see for himself what the ASIMO is capable of so he challenged the robot to a penalty shootout, then let it robot serve him a drink. The two even danced together, with Watson reckoning ASIMO is better than many humans are at this activity.
