British sports car manufacturer Caterham Cars will introduce two new variants of the iconic Seven for the US market, the 480 and 360, at the Monterrey Car week.
Developed especially for the US market, the two models will go on sale immediately, with prices starting from $44,900 (€33,640) for the Seven 360 and $52,900 (€39,635) for the Seven 480.
Both the Seven 480 and Seven 360 are powered by a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine. In the 480, the four-pot produces 237hp and 152 lb-ft (206 Nm) of torque, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint takes just 3.4 seconds and top speed is rated at 140 mph (225 km/h).
In the Seven 360, the 2.0-liter engine produces 180 hp and 143 lb-ft (194 Nm) of torque. The car sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h).
Like the brand’s other models, the two new sports cars will be sold through Caterham Cars’ distributor Superformance. Caterham Seven models are shipped to the United States in part-built form and sold as rolling chassis via Superformance’s nationwide dealer network for customers to then complete personally. Each of the two cars takes an average build time of between 60 and 70 hours (for a novice).
