Buying this totaled Bugatti Veyron is a huge gamble. Not only will it end up being still quite expensive to acquire (it’s cheap only compared to a sound, working one), but it’s a complete insurance write-off and needs massive repairs.
Being a Bugatti, everything is horrendously expensive, and it’s not yet clear if the car, which slid on a wet Austrian highway, crashed through a guard rail then fell 40 meters down a gulley, only suffered body damage, or if the engine and gearbox were affected as well.
Insurance company estimates see the price of repairs for this car hitting as much as €700,000 or $923,500 – yes, it’s a lot, even if the car is relatively cheap to buy; in fact, it’s the cheapest Veyron out there right now.
Current bid for the car on the AXA (insurance company) website stands at €191,000 or ~$250,000, but it’s expected to go up further.
