There’s just something undeniably enticing about the entry level Porsche 912, built from 1965 to 1969. Unlike later four-cylinder models, it had the exact same shape as the six-cylinder 911 of the time, yet in having a smaller, lesser-powered engine that was placed closer to the rear wheels and a generally lower weight, it was easier and more forgiving to drive.

It’s also very nice and elegant to look at (probably because of the excessive tapering going on at both ends), with its standard chrome hubcaps and few visible shiny trinkets. The example you see here has been well looked after and appears very presentable.

It’s not perfect, showing some signs of wear and tear (one of the side sills is badly scuffed, for instance), but it will definitely make every walk back to your car an event. The ad says it’s a numbers-matching machine still sporting its factory paint. Asking price is $36,500, which is a bit steep, since you can get one in OK-shape, in Germany, for less than half that. The car is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
