Millennials in Britain can’t seem to put down their phones – perhaps they think they look great while driving.
In a study, Ford Europe researchers found roughly a third of British drivers between the ages of 18-24 had taken a selfie behind the wheel. German and French drivers of the same age group were 28% likely to take a photo, followed by Romania and Italy at 27% and 26%, respectively.
More worrying, however, is that one in four young drivers across Europe were likely to use social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, while behind the wheel.
To discourage these drivers from being distracted by their phones and cameras, Ford has released a couple of videos that are either haunting or slightly goofy. They’re also sponsoring the Driving Skills For Life program across the UK.
The study comprised of 7,000 smartphones in Europe, according to Ford.
