The Hyundai Elantra Coupe has been removed from the automaker’s US lineup for 2015, despite having been offered for just two model years, 2013 and 2014.
A spokesman for Hyundai Motor America confirmed the news but didn’t elaborate. “Yes, it is discontinued. We’ve decided to put all our focus on Elantra sedan and Elantra GT,” spokesman Jim Trainor told Edmunds.
Obviously, this means the Elantra Coupe didn’t enjoy satisfactory sales results, with its discontinuation leaving buyers with fewer choices in the affordable compact coupe segment, which includes the Honda Civic Coupe and Kia Forte Koup.
Based on the Elantra sedan, the coupe was only offered for the 2013-2014 model years. Customers interested in the model should have no problems finding one though, as dealers have remaining inventories of the 2014 Elantra Coupe. The model starts at $20,410, including an $810 destination charge.
The 2014 Hyundai Elantra Coupe is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine rated at 173 horsepower and 154 lb-ft (209 Nm) of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It returns an EPA estimated 24 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.
