Since Hyundai will debut the next-generation i20 supermini at the Paris Auto Show this autumn, the Korean automaker has started the teasing campaign with two design sketches of the new model.
Inspired by “Fluidic Sculpture 2.0” design philosophy and styled at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the second-generation i20 features a “sophisticated and distinctive design,” according to the carmaker.
Compared to the current model, the front end features a bigger, bolder interpretation of Hyundai’s hexagonal grille, while a new thin horizontal strip connects the headlamps. At the rear, there’s a wrap-around rear window and unique treatment for the lamp clusters.
Here’s what Hyundai stated about the i20’s design :
“The long hood and generous shape create a powerful stance for the All-New i20. The body sides are sculpted yet the overall architecture is clear and simple, with the cabin sitting cleanly on the body. In profile, the dark treatment of the C-pillar visually accentuates the car’s length.”
