BMW‘s automotive range feels like Marvel’s expanding universe these days; there’s something new popping up even when you don’t expect or need it.
Just recently, our spy photographers nabbed this prototype that they believe is a new BMW model internally known as FAST, not for its speed , but as an acronym for “Family Active Sports Tourer“.
While it does look very similar to the X1 testers seen before, we’ll admit that the proportions, ride height and rear designs appear to differ between the two models.
The idea floating around is that, the FAST would sit between the 2-Series Active Tourer minivan and the X1 crossover, blending styling and practical elements from those two models as well as station wagons and hatchbacks.
The sticker on the side of this particular tester tells us that it’s a hybrid model, with the car riding on the BMW’s new front-wheel drive UKL modular architecture used on the new Mini, 2-Series AT and the next X1.
We’ll post more information as it comes available.
