All-wheel drive can provide only so much of a head start in a drag race against a two-wheel drive car. These type of models usually shoot off the line (if launched properly; a tricky endeavor) but unless they have as much power as a Nissan GT-R, in order to maintain the momentum, they begin to lose out.
This video, posted by EVO, highlights this behavior nicely. Yes, the Jaguar F-Type S is more powerful and has sophisticated electronics that keep grip in check, but you’d expect the Subaru WRX STI to not look like it’s standing still next to it.

As usual, in debates such as this, it’s the rain argument that always manages to hold water – had it been raining outside, it would have been the Jaguar that would have bogged down, though it still probably would have been able to make up the deficit thanks to its 80 extra horsepower.
