The plan is to make the upcoming open world driving/racing game The Crew a deeply social experience – it really is the name of the game here, literally; Driveclub wants to make sure you’re aware of this solely by reading its title, as well, even if its approach is slightly more realistic.
The only problem with The Crew is that it doesn’t seem to know exactly what it is, judging by how the cars move and handle. Simply watching gameplay videos, you get a sense that you can’t get a sense for what the handling model is like – cars sometimes look like they’re acting realistically, but then some silliness occurs and the game’s style becomes blurry and seems inconsistent.
Even so, the latest trailer highlights the number of free-roam activities that are available to the player. It says the map is ‘a playground,’ which basically means you’ll constantly be hitting conveniently placed jumps or breakable objects en route to your next position marker.
The Crew releases November 11 on Xbox, PlayStation 4 and PC.
