Here comes another story about a possible future Alfa Romeo model that everybody would like to see made, but it’s more likely to just be a waste of our precious typing time.
What is it with these excessively optimistic “insider rumors” about Alfa that always bring hope for new models, hope that have so far done the exact opposite of materializing in any way?
This time, AutoExpress, a usual source of such unnamed tipster-based rumors, says the half-dead Italian brand is now looking to create a Jaguar F-Type rival that would use the underpinnings of the Maserati Alfieri. They say it’s set to arrive in 2017 and talk about how it’s going to have muscular haunches, “tear-drop shaped side glass” from the Maserati, but overall different styling, even though the two will be quite similar.
We know the Maserati is set to make it into production by 2016 – the manufacturer is clearly moving things around, releasing new models, showing us concepts that preview future ones, whereas it would seem Alfa is just sitting in a pool of its own… illustrious history giving us the finger with all these frankly unbelievable rumors that somehow are coming from the UK and not Italy.
The credibility of these rumors is wearing ever thinner and in the not too distant future, we’ll just begin ignoring these altogether, in order to focus on actual car news, not vapor for the sake of posting uninspired renderings. Ours is better anyway…
