As if the Hennessey Venom GT‘s 270-mph run earlier this year wasn’t enough, John Hennessey’s company is now working on getting the striking Venom F5 to exceed that Bugatti Veyron-beating top speed – all the way up to 290 mph.
In an interview with Top Gear magazine published today, Hennessey said the 7.0-liter V8 (twin turbocharged, of course) could exceed 1,400 horsepower, so that a 290 mph run would be “possible.”
The F5 is supposed to be an upgraded Venom GT, according to Hennessey, with better aerodynamics and a minimal weight increase to keep it around 2,900 lbs. Terrifying, is probably one word to describe that ride.
Hennessey reportedly plans to make 30 of the F5s starting in 2016, and price them from $1.3 million.
If you’re not one of the 30 who get to buy one, watching its top speed run should still be a hoot.
