The world of hot hatch-derived fast compact estates doesn’t really have all that many members.
There’s the Ford Focus ST estate, the Skoda Octavia vRS estate, a 220 hp Renault Megane GT estate (that you haven’t heard of and has limited availability) or the all-wheel drive VW Golf R estate, and that’s it.
There would therefore be plenty of room in the niche for Opel / Vauxhall to spread its wings too, and make something more out of its Astra Tourer. Rivals for the car are there, and if it were to even slightly undercut them in terms of price, while still offering comparable performance, it would probably sell, or at least put the manufacturer in a cooler light…
X-Tomi thought it’d be a good idea to see what such a vehicle would look like, so he used the OPC’s large, unique rims and its front bumper, he lowered the stance of the car, and presto!
If they made it, they could even go one further and offer it with two engines, like the Ford Focus ST: one higher-powered petrol and another lesser-powered but more economical and higher-torque diesel.
