The lesser known of the Lancia Fulvia family is the Sport 1,3 Zagato, a car built in proper series production numbers – quite atypical for a coach built coupe like this. It really is a special car that doesn’t need high horsepower or even the prettiest of styling to quell your craving for something classic.
Jay Leno got to like it too, and he had not having driven, let alone seen one up close before. He was skeptical that having the engine in front of the front axle and front-wheel drive would result in a good driver’s car, but upon hitting some Californian serpentines this view changes rapidly.
The engine, in Lancia tradition, is a V4, in this case displacing 1.3 liters and (not) producing 115 hp as the owner erroneously states in the video, but more like 90 hp – 115 was the output of the later 1.6-liter engined cars.
The video of the car in Jay’s Garage is posted below, and make sure to take a good look at this car’s sports seats – they are extremely nice to just look at but are also apparently really comfy and supportive too.
