Audi has applied a subtle facelift to its A6 family, which includes the A6 sedan and wagon, A6 Allroad, S6 sedan and wagon and RS6 wagon. All models receive updated headlights and taillights, as well as revised engines, with the facelift being very similar to the one of the A7 Sportback.

Facelifted A6 models will only be spotted by trained eyes, as the only noticeable exterior styling changes involve the headlights and taillights, which have rearranged clusters and a new design for the LED DRLs that reminds of the facelifted A7 Sportback. Other very subtle changes involve the singleframe grille, air inlets, bumpers, side sills, and tailpipes. Audi optionally offers headlights with LED technology or Matrix LED technology, combined with dynamic turn signals.

Interior changes are even more discreet, with new colors like Flint Gray (A6 models) and Salsa Red (S6) being available. The front seats get optional ventilation and massage functions, while the MMI radio operating system and automatic air conditioning are standard. The facelifted A6 family also gets new infotainment and assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, Audi side assist, active lane assist and updated night vision assistant.

The revised A6 family gets an updated engine lineup, which for the A6 and A6 Avant includes three TFSI units ranging from 190PS (187hp) to 333PS (328hp) and five TDI units ranging from 150PS (148hp) to 326PS (322hp).

All engines are Euro 6-compliant and have up to 22 percent lower CO2 emissions. Audi continues to offer efficient “Ultra” models, with the 1.8 TFSI Ultra averaging just 5.7 l/100 km (41.3 mpg US) and emitting 133 g of CO2 per kilometer. The 2.0 TDI ultra sets the economy record for the A6 lineup, at just 4.2 l/100 km (56 mpg US) and 109 g/km of CO2.

The top gasoline engine, the 3.0 TFSI, has been extensively revised, while the 3.0 TDI clean diesel engine is all-new, being available with either 218PS (215hp) or 272PS (268hp). The 3.0 TDI clean diesel biturbo produces 320PS (316hp), but is also available with a 326PS (322hp) version on the A6 3.0 TDI Competition and A6 Avant 3.0 TDI Competition special‑edition models.

All engines are mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed S tronic, with only the high-performance diesel being paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic.

The high-performance S6 and RS6 models continue to be powered by the 4.0 TFSI biturbo V8 engine, producing 450PS (444hp) and 560PS (552hp), respectively. Deliveries of the new A6 family begin in fall 2014, with prices in Germany starting from €38,400 for the A6 sedan with the 1.8 TFSI engine.
