Chevrolet is highlighting the extensive use of stronger and lighter high-strength steel on its 2015 Silverado with a new concept at this week’s State Fair of Texas.
Named the Silverado ‘Toughnology’ (get it?) it’s more like a precursor of a special edition than a real concept, with Chevy giving it a special paint job that emulates the appearance of raw steel accented with steel molecule graphics and a matte black hood.
Additional visual enhancements include black and chrome exterior accents, Matchbox car-like 22-inch alloy wheels mounted on off-road tires, fender flares, smoked lights, grille inserts, a tonneau cover and tubular assist steps.
The stock 5.3-liter V8 engine with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque gets a performance air intake system and exhaust, with other upgrades including beefier brakes.
