If you thought the roof of the Tesla Model S had no structural role whatsoever, and that it was always in the way of you seeing the clouds, you’ll be happy to know the first modded convertibles are out.
The car you see here was spotted somewhere in the States and photos ended up on Autojunk.nl.
It is believed to be the work of Newport Convertible Engineering, or NCE, as the company released some older photos of its own which kind of match the look.
If it is the hand of NCE, then this car is probably part of the first batch of 100 convertibles meant to reach China. They won’t all be converted at NCE’s Calfiornia base, but in Dubai and Barcelona, as well.
The modifications will set owners back the equivalent of €21,100 or $29,000, but what we’d really like to see is how one of these behaves in a small overlap crash test, or the side pole impact, or in a rollover situation…
Update: The photos were shot by Frans Bulterman in San Fransisco
