Did you know there’s a difference between Volvo’s “XC” and “Cross Country” models? Apparently, in Volvo’s eyes, there is, which is why Khalil Bouguerra from Virtuel-Car made this V60 Cross Country rendering.
If you ask Volvo, this is what they say:
“There is a clear distinction between our XC and Cross Country models,” explains Lex Kerssemakers, Volvo Car Senior Vice President Product Strategy & Vehicle Line Management. “The Volvo XC models have a distinct crossover character with unique body-styles including an elevated seating position, while the Cross Country models are expressive all-road versions of our dynamic wagons and hatchbacks.”
If you had to read that statement more than once to make some kind of sense, you’re not alone…
To put it simply, Volvo’s XC-badged cars are supposed to be genuine SUVs, while the Cross Country models are wagons and hatchbacks with SUV styling cues and a taller road clearance. It sounds logical until you look at the XC70, especially in FWD trim…
With Volvo currently offering the XC60, do you think a crossover-esque version of the V60 station wagon with the Cross Country nameplate has a place in the brand’s range or would it be redundant, not to mention confusing?
