We can all rest easy now, because it appears the Lotus Evora is not going away forever. It’s just on a one-model-year hiatus.
Reports circulated over the weekend there would be no 2015 Lotus Evora in the U.S. due to Lotus not complying with a federal safety requirement. But according to Jalopnik and Lotus, the Evora is just taking a breather.
In a statement, Lotus North America CEO Arnie Johnson said “Lotus is committed to the North American market and will indeed produce a 2016 Model Year Evora that will be fully U.S. compliant.” He added there would be “limited availability” of the 2014 model over the next few months.
With all the doom and gloom at Lotus right now, this is refreshing to hear that they will return to the U.S. with a road-going car. But 2015 is going to be rough.
