The all-new and far better looking 2015 Kia Sedona people carrier promises beefy crossover-like styling, the benefits of a longer wheelbase on practicality and space, plus seating for up to eight passengers. Revealed a few months ago, it’s now been priced and detailed for the US market.
It’s available in five flavors, with the most basic L version starting off at $25,900, while the dearest SX Limited trim bumps that up to $39,700 – it comes with standard Nappa leather.
Base Sedonas come with LED daytime running lights up front and LED rear light clusters, “active safety features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist System (BAS), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Antilock Braking System (ABS),” along with “additional technologies such as Roll Over Mitigation (ROM) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC).”
Convenience features include USB charging ports, part-cooled glove box (which the manufacturer doesn’t say whether it’s standard or not, but we assume that it is), as well as an optional surround view system, “Smart Welcome” (that illuminates the door handles and unfolds the power retractable side mirrors when the vehicle key fob is detected), “Smart Power Liftgate” (which does the same, but with the rear hatch and requires you to stand for three seconds next to trigger).
All versions come powered by a 3.3-liter V6 that replaces the old 3.5. It’s good for 276 hp, 248 lb-ft of torque. It features a three-step variable induction system (that controls the amount of air going into the engine), variable valve timing and low-friction internals. The gearbox chosen for the job is a six-speed self-shifter “tuned for balanced control, power and efficiency.”
