These are the first images of Honda’s new Jazz prototype that previews the European version of the latest Fit that’s already available in other markets such as North America and Japan.
That said, there’s nothing conceptual about the “Jazz Prototype” that will have its first public outing at the Paris auto show next month other than Honda’s stubbornness to call it what it really is.
The Jazz will get a 1.3-liter VTEC petrol engine paired to a new six-speed manual gearbox that replaces the previous five-speed unit or an optional CVT, both driving the front wheels. A hybrid version is expected to be added to the range later on.
Now in its third generation, the new Jazz rides on a 15mm longer platform at 3,915mm, with the wheelbase gaining 30mm for a total of 2,530mm for improved passenger space.
Honda said the new model will also deliver “a more refined and comfortable ride for both the driver and passengers, thanks to a new suspension system”.
Sales of the new Jazz will begin in Europe next summer.
