Hyundai has released new details about the second-generation i20 supermini, along with a new set of photos showing the interior of the car for the first time.

Scheduled to debut at the Paris Auto Show in one month, the new i20 features a completely new exterior and interior design, with the latter being billed as having a “perceived quality” among the best in the segment.

Hyundai says that’s thanks to the i20’s high-grade Thermal Plastic Olefin (TPO) soft-touch material applied to all key surfaces and quotes independent customer reports in Germany and the UK as ranking the car’s interior design and comfort higher than those of core competitors.

Found on the vehicle’s dashboard and door trims, the soft-touch material is described as highly durable and said to maintain a premium look and feel even after frequent use. The interior features color schemes that complement the exterior paint finishes, with every i20 interior being available in four hues: Elegant Beige, Grey Blue, Cappuccino and Comfort Grey. Hyundai says front row occupants have more head, leg and shoulder room, while the rear bench can comfortably seat three adults.

The automaker has also announced the engine lineup for Europe, with the i20 being offered with three gasoline and two diesel units, all Euro6-compliant. Gasoline engines include the 1.25-liter four-cylinder offered in two power versions: 75PS (74hp) and 84PS (83hp). The all-aluminum unit is mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard. A 100PS (99hp) 1.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine is also offered, mated to either a six-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.

Diesel options include a 75PS (74hp) 1.1-liter and a 90PS (89hp) 1.4-liter four cylinder units, both mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The new Hyundai i20 family will be built in Izmit, Turkey, and will go on sale in Europe from November 2014.
